Does anyone have any ideas how to slow down fruit trees from blossoming to early so the late frost don't kill the blossoms? I thought about buying an ice machine and putting ice in heaps onto of the base of the tree to keep the roots cold on warm days. I also thought of putting white plastic around the base of trees and only allow small amounts of water to seep into the root base thereby slowing the bloom growth a bit. I also tried smudge pots but they don't work here in ok because of the wind. I feel sorry for one huge orchard of peach trees here in Oklahoma as they have lose two straight harvest to late killer frost. They even hired helicopters to fly over head to try and save them on night. Any ideas would be appreciated. Please forward to any blog that might feel my pain. (-: thanks. Here in Oklahoma I have lost a lot of fruit over the past 3 years and its discouraging. I don't know how to get my info on this blog so here's my e-mail. thanks Terry Sowards oklanoni@sbcglobal.net
